“I put a piece of paper under my pillow, and when I could not sleep I wrote in the dark.” ― Henry David Thoreau
One of his quotes is the background on my writing laptop. “Write while the heat is in you. The writer who postpones the recording of his thoughts uses an iron which has cooled to burn a hole with. He cannot inflame the minds of his audience.”
Ah yes I have heard this one! Wonderful 🙂
I’m writing an essay about Thoreau for my final exam, but I need some inspiration 😕
Oh he was a genius! His writings are filled with inspiration :). My favourite quote of all time was from Thoreau…”Do not be too moral, you may cheat yourself out of much life. Aim high above morality. Be not simply good but be good for something” 🙂
Ha! I do this if I wake in the night and have a bright idea, I write in the dark so as not to wake my husband. In the morning, it is rare if I can read my scribbles! 🙂 SD
Here is one of my favorites:
“I should not talk so much about myself if there were anybody else whom I knew as well. Unfortunately, I am confined to this theme by the narrowness of my experience.”
